Cultivating Creative Excellence TM

Over the course of my professional life, since graduating with an Honours Degree in Design from Glasgow School of Art, I've worn many hats: I have owned a PR and Marketing Consultancy and a retail business; I have worked both for myself and for a diverse range of high end employers and clients and now I am a maker, teacher and entrepreneur. I am passionate about the business theory and practice behind being a successful creative and have dedicated myself to acquiring experience and up to the minute knowledge in this field, lecturing and writing on design, creativity and marketing. In the course of sharing my technical expertise with many hundreds of students around the world, I have come to understand how helpful it can be to have access to a professional mentor/coach who can devote time and thought to you on a one-to-one basis and who truly understands what it means to be creatively successful.

I am delighted to now offer my wide range of experience in many areas as a resource to others. "Cultivating Creative Excellence"TM can mean many things - you may need technical help with your own creations, to get your work to the next level, no matter what stage you are at. You may want feedback or input on design issues which challenge you, or have unfulfilled potential you long to explore. You might already have arrived at a certain point in your creative journey but need tailored help to move further on and higher up in your career. Whatever problem or challenge it is that you face, my aim is to help you remove obstacles and barriers and find a clear path forwards.

When one considers how much skilled help costs in other areas - for example accountancy or legal fees or when your plumbing, car or computer need fixed, these fees are realistic and represent great value for the tailored expertise you will receive! More intensive, longer programmes can be arranged to suit your requirements, time and budget, do get in touch with me to discuss further: info@melaniemuir.com or text/phone +447977960395

"I fixed up a Skype Creative Coaching session with Melanie. This was worth every penny of the fee. She is a mine of information and I came away really feeling more confident and clear about my direction. So in the next year or so I know where to look, who to look at and share with to further my own development. It has saved me a lot of time and the results have been an amazing boost to my confidence. If any of you are reading this...all I can say is, do not hesitate to get the professional advice Melanie has to offer. As well as making beautiful jewellery, she is friendly, very helpful and knows her stuff." Bella Green, professional artist and maker

“Melanie offered great insights from her experienced past at a level that we could all understand and comprehend. Although our time with Mel was short, what was fed in was of huge value to our ‘Inkers' who were at the beginning of their jewellery careers.” Kate Pickering, Founding Director, Vanilla Ink Studios

"I recently commissioned Melanie to speak at one of our Applied Arts Scotland professional development events for Makers. She took this task on very last minute but was so enthusiastic and professional that I knew instantly we had made the right decision. On the day she was extremely organised, engaging and very openly discussed her topic with the audience. Everyone got a lot out of it, including myself. Melanie is an extremely warm person and has a great way of making you feel at ease. I am confident that she can help you with whatever creative dilemmas you may have!" Jo Garner, Chair, Applied Arts Scotland
